Scheme

The RSETIs (Rural Self Employment Training Institutes) have been set up with a view to develop entrepreneurial skills in youth to enable them to set up their own ventures with or without the help of bank credit. At present the state has 21 RSETIs out of which 17 are set up by PNB, 3 by Canara Bank, and 1 by SBI. Land, for construction of RSETI building is provided free of cost by the State Government and construction cost @ Rs. 2.00 crore is given by MoRD. Dedicated institutions have been designed as to ensure necessary skill training and skill up gradation of the rural BPL youth to mitigate the unemployment problem. The RSETIs are expected to select at least 70% of the trainees from Rural Youth BPL category. This is 100% funded programme of MoRD.

Objectives of RSETI:-

• Identify, orient, motivate and assist unemployed rural youth to undergo free training at RSETI’s to take up self-employment / wage employment activities.

• Impart knowledge and skills to the candidates by organizing training programmes on Agri based activities, product, process and general EDP (Entrepreneurship Development Programmes).

• Achieve high settlement rate for all the trained candidates

• Facilitate Bank credit linkages for trained candidates

• Provide handholding support for a period of two years to the trained candidates to help them overcome teething problems and guide them for settlement.
